Hear from New York-based architect, educator, and curator Eva Franch for a special In Colour lecture. Franch specialises in the making of alternative architecture histories and futures. She is the Chief Curator and Executive Director of Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York since 2010, and Professor at The Cooper Union School of Architecture. Franch will discuss colour in the context of art, design, and politics, looking specifically at colour and ideology.

Eva Franch’s lecture will be followed by a Q & A with Professor Sandra Kaji-O’Grady, who has published on the topic of colour and ideology in architecture.

Eva Franch’s visit to Australia has been organised by the Institute of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. She will be presenting the Lloyd Rees Lecture in Sydney, 22 November.

  • Eva Franch

    Eva Franch is an architect, curator, educator and lecturer of experimental forms of art and architectural practice. In 2004, she founded her solo practice OOAA (Office of Architectural Affairs) and since 2010 is the Chief Curator and Executive Director of Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York.

    In 2014 Franch, with the project OfficeUS, was selected by the US State Department to represent the United States Pavilion at the XIV Venice Architecture Biennale. Franch has taught at Columbia University GSAPP, the IUAV University of Venice, SUNY Buffalo, and Rice University School of Architecture. She is currently teaching at The Cooper Union.

    Franch has received numerous awards and fellowships, and her work has been exhibited internationally including FAD Barcelona, the Venice Architecture Biennale, and the Shenzhen Architecture Biennale, among others. Recent publications include Agenda (Lars Muller, 2014) and Atlas (Lars Muller, 2015) and Manual (Lars Muller, 2017).

    Sandra Kaji-O'Grady

    Kaji-O’Grady’s research is focused on the transfer of ideas and techniques between contemporary fine arts and architecture, and architecture and the experimental sciences.
