Born 1986, Brisbane

Hannah Smith creates sculptures inscribed with figurative imagery both sexualised and self-deprecating and is interested in emotional connections sparked by spontaneity and its possible ramifications. Through her work she aims to reflect on the type of world we live in where we rely on strategies of mediation to interact with each other to fulfill our fantasties.

Hannah completed a Master of Contemporary Art at VCA in 2013. In 2015 she undertook a six month residency in Detroit, Michigan at HAMTRAMCK CERAMCK after being awarded the PUYA grant from Arts Queensland.
