The Judith Wright Centre
The IMA is located in the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, which also houses theatre spaces, resident companies and agencies including Carbon Media, Circa, Expressions, Flying Arts, as well as Arthouse Coffee.
The gallery entrance is on the ground floor of the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, on Berwick Street. There is wheelchair access and an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities also located on the ground floor. We welcome guide and support dogs. The staff at reception are happy to answer any questions you may have on the exhibition and access.
Nearby parking lots include Wilson Parking, Berwick Street (opposite the IMA); King’s Parking, Warner Street; Chinatown Car Park, Ann and Wickham Streets; and Chinatown Mall, Alfred and Alden Streets.
The 199, 196 and 195 buses stop directly outside the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Art, and the IMA is just a five-minute walk from Fortitude Valley train station. Visit the Translink Website for more information.
Artisan is across the road, and there are a number of other galleries in the neighbourhood, including Andrew Baker Art Dealer, Philip Bacon Galleries, Edwina Corlette Gallery, Fire-Works, Heiser Gallery, and Jan Murphy Gallery. The area—Fortitude Valley and nearby James Street—is known for its boutique shopping and nightclubs, its entertainments, eateries, and bars.
