Gordon Hookey: A Murriality

Book launch

15 December 2022
6–7pm

Join Gordon Hookey for the launch of his monograph A Murriality, which accompanies his first survey exhibition, on view at the IMA until 23 December. With essays by José Da Silva, Bruce Johnson McLean, Liz Nowell, and Pablo José Ramírez, and conversational texts from Shannon Brett and Jax Compton, it’s a rich survey of Hookey’s work from the early 1990s to the present. Following an introductory conversation with Katina Davidson, Hookey will sign books—drawing one of his iconic kangaroos in each copy purchased.

A Murriality

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
