Hear from South Korean-born artist Haegue Yang, in conversation with IMA Directors Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh.

Known for her complex and sensorial blind installations, sculptures, and video, Yang translates her research and reflections on historical figures and concrete, domestic phenomena using her meticulous language of formalist abstraction.

Yang has exhibited in major international exhibitions including the 21st Biennale of Sydney (2018), La Biennale de Montréal (2016), the 12th Sharjah Biennial (2015), the 9th Taipei Biennal (2014), dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel (2012) and the 53rd Venice Biennale (2009) as the South Korean representative.

Yang’s exhibition Triple Vita Nestings is on display at the IMA 30 June–30 August, 2018.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
