The Institute of Modern Art, the Calile Hotel, and m3architecture are joining forces to launch a new time-twisting video by Naarm/Melbourne’s Daniel Crooks, one of Australia’s most audacious moving-image artists. The work explores the central void of Brisbane Girls Creative Grammar School’s Creative Learning Centre, designed by m3architecture. The event will also feature a range of earlier Crooks works and a discussion with Crooks and Michael Banney from m3architecture led by IMA Director Robert Leonard, tracing the intersection art, film, and architecture, and considering how we perceive space and time. Tickets include a drink on arrival.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
