IMA Workshop Series

Communicating Your Practice

25 March 2017
11am–1pm

  • Event Cost:
Tickets are $30 per workshop for non-IMA members, and $20 per workshop for IMA members.

Perfect your skills in professional studio visits, artist talks, artist statements, and communicating your practice to a variety of audiences. In this course, you’ll learn how to write about yourself and your practice, and become equipped with the skills to write an artist statement, bio and exhibition proposal. Gain an insight in how to talk about your art practice in front of audiences to skilfully give an artist talk, and understand the protocols of a studio visit. Join IMA Executive Directors Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh to learn how best to communicate to curators, the public, and collectors.

Come prepared with an artist statement draft to be workshopped in this session.

This is a ticketed event with limited capacity. To attend this IMA Workshop, please book your ticket here.

Alternatively, attend all three workshops in this series for a package price of $75 for general admission, or $50 for IMA members. Other sessions in this series include Audio-Visual Installation 101, and Hanging & Handling 2D Art.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
