Off Grid 5: Kevin O'Brien: In Search of an Architectural Culture
Architecture discussion
16 July 2026
6pm
As a field of works and agencies, conditions and technologies, Queensland architecture has sustained enduring scrutiny, debate, and activation across the cultural spectrum, from buildings to books. What lies beyond or beneath the cast of figures who have given it substance? What new problems, scales of attention, and relationships in the state (or between it and elsewhere) might we name and confront? Join us for an informal lecture exploring this theme by architect Kevin O’Brien, and a conversation with architectural historian Andrew Leach. Networking drinks will follow. Seating limited. Registration essential.
This event is supported by QUT’s Queensland Architecture Research Group. The Off Grid discussion program is led by Andrew Wilson, Senior Lecturer in Architecture at University of Queensland, and Andrew Leach, Professor of Architectural History at QUT, both Meanjin/Brisbane.
