IMA Co-Directors Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh will give a tour of our current exhibition, Ebb Rains, by renowned Berlin-based Dutch artist Willem de Rooij.

Burns and Lundh will provide an insight into this expansive exhibition that reflects on the Dutch colonial presence in the Asia Pacific region, and makes subtle reference to more recent instances of empire and intervention in the natural world. Considered one of the most influential European artists of his generation, de Rooij’s practice revolves around questions of representation and meaning. Ebb Rains features works ranging from textiles and weavings, to floral arrangement, and sound work.

Find out more about Ebb Rains here. Secure your spot on Eventbrite here.

This is a free guided tour; all welcome.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
