Happy New Year! News

Happy New Year!

3 January 2017

For over 40 years, the IMA has played a pivotal role in Brisbane, supporting contemporary artistic practice in the city and beyond, ensuring that it contributes to the global arts conversation. We welcome the new year with an updated look!

In 2017, the IMA will be joined by three new faces: Jenna Baldock as Touring Exhibitions Manager; Jaala Alex as Communications Officer; and Jessie Nash as Visitor and Bookshop Assistant. More information about our new staff here.

We start the year with a presentation of a new work by Brisbane artist Caitlin Franzmann on Saturday, 28 January. We open the first solo exhibition in the Asia-Pacific by Berlin-based Dutch artist Willem de Rooitwo weeks later.

Here’s to 2017!

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
