The IMA is pleased to announce the shortlist for the Jeremy Hynes Award, our biannual award given to an emerging experimental Queensland artist. Three artists and duos have been shortlisted: Clark Beaumont, Catherine or Kate, and Liam O’Brien.

Clark Beaumont is a artistic collaboration between Brisbane-based Nicole Beaumont and Sarah Clark. They have presented live performances, videos and installations, nationally and internationally since 2010.

Catherine or Kate is collaboration between Catherine Sagin and Kate Woodcroft, and have presented works throughout Australia and internationally.

The shortlisted artists will present works at the end of 2015, and the recipient will have an exhibition in IMA’s Green Room in 2016. Previous Jeremy Hynes Award recipients are Aaron Burton (2009), Alex Cuffe (2011), and Chris Howlett (2013).

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
