Yearlong Celebration

29 May 2015

The Institute of Modern Art (IMA) is one of Australia’s most vibrant independent non-profit galleries, which has supported over 2000 artists through over 500 exhibitions for 40 years.

At our 40th Anniversary Gala and Benefit Auction on 23 July, we will be honouring artist Robert MacPherson and art historian Dr Nancy Underhill for their extraordinary and visionary contributions to the IMA, Brisbane, and Australia. Purchase your tickets here.

On 21 November, old and new IMA members are welcome to celebrate our 40th birthday, with cake, refreshments, and live music by Brisbane artists’ bands. Become a member here.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
