Howl
2020
Howl is a 48 page colour book which commemorates provocative artworks throughout time. From a rainbow repeatedly burned in a public square, to an artwork attacked with a hammer at the National Gallery of Victoria, the publication deep dives into censorship and backlash in the artworld. Created as part of an APHIDS performance of the same name, this publication also includes full color photographs of performers recontextualising these artworks on their queer, feminist bodies. Limited edition press.
HOWL has been presented at Art Gallery of South Australia, ARTSHOUSE and Perth Institute of Contemporary Art. Created by Lara Thoms, Lz Dunn and Willoh S Weiland with Mish Grigor. Designed by Rebecca McCauley.
