You’re invited to the opening of 2017 Jeremy Hynes Award recipient Lu Forsberg‘s exhibition, Transparency and other worries. Join the artist in conversation with curator Jenna Baldock at 5pm as they discuss their recent experience at the coalface of Australia’s resource dilemma, followed by the offical opening from 6pm.

Forsberg’s practice probes our distanced relationship to mining and this exhibition focuses on the plight of the endangered Southern Black Throated Finch. This species is threatened by the proposed Adani Carmichael Coal Mine and North Galilee Basin Rail Project.

With a combination of ground footage and virtual maps, the exhibition takes viewers on a tour of the 310km stretch from the Abbot Point Port to the Galilee Basin, the site of the mine and affiliated rail projects. Forsberg endeavours to provide transparency around the impact of mining by addressing the nexus of environmental, social, and economic systems.
