Art Industry Insights for Teens

The Visual Field is our professional development program for teens curious about a career in the arts after school. Participants will meet artists, curators, content creators, and industry professionals to explore different career pathways during a weekend intensive at the IMA.

Grade 11 and 12 students are invited to learn about the industry, connect with likeminded peers, gain valuable art writing skills, and be immersed in the exciting world of contemporary art.

This two-day face to face experience is delivered in partnership with Flying Arts Alliance.

Program Outline:
Day 1
—Exhibition tour of the current Institute of Modern Art exhibition: This language that is every stone
—Engaging Audiences Online session: How to create meaningful digital content that is accessible and engaging for arts audiences
—Digital Content Creation session: Engage audiences with the This language that is every stone exhibition by applying artwork analysis and content creation skills
—Viewing of the Stayless exhibition at Pop Gallery

Day 2
—Studio visits with Outer Space Gallery artists
—Careers in the arts panel discussion with IMA and Flying Arts staff
—Presentation of digital content created

Cost: $50
Applications close 5pm, Friday 1 April 2022

COVID safety advice: 
The IMA regularly reviews our audience safety measures in line with current government advice. The IMA will communicate with all participants and their guardians ahead of time about the current safety measures in place at our venue. In line with government guidelines the IMA requires anyone 16+ to show proof of vaccination to visit the IMA.
