After Hours

28 April 2023
5.00PM–9.00PM

Join us up late to experience Maluw Adhil Urngu Padanu Mamuy Moesik (Legends from the Deep Sitting Peacefully on the Waters) one last time!

The IMA has collaborated with the Biennale of Sydney to present a curated selection of works from the 23rd Biennale of Sydney: Rīvus. Anchored by a co-commissioned work by the Torres Strait 8, the exhibition explores how our connections to the natural world could prioritise care for Country and pursue justice in an epoch of rising temperatures and seas.

At 6pm, enjoy a performance by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance group Ngali Kaymelan to celebrate the Torres Strait 8’s major protest-art work.

Artist Talks

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
