The Institute of Modern Art and Lawn Bowls are teaming up to deliver fun workshops that will introduce you to the whimsical world of fused glass. These cosy workshops keep things small, so you get plenty of one-on-one time with Lawn Bowl’s glassmaker Finn O’Sullivan.
Over a relaxed two hour session, you’ll get hands-on with the tools and techniques needed to create your very own adorable ‘Poochie Pet’ family. But where did these little creatures come from? Poochie Pets first began as an idea in Finn’s childhood — a tiny companion you could carry in your pocket. Back then, they were made of paper. Now, Finn brings them to life in vibrant glass and shares them with new friends.
No experience needed. Bring your imagination and get ready to play with glass.
Your finished Poochie Pets will be glued together during the session and whisked away to the Lawn Bowls studio for firing. Once they have been fused and cooled, your shiny new glass companions will be delivered right back to you.
Registrations are essential. Workshops are limited to 12 participants.

Lawn Bowls glasswork is made through a continual process of observing how decorative objects enrich our experiences of domestic spaces. The bright imagery, colour and pattern put into Lawn Bowls holds the force of this conceptual questioning. Each Lawn Bowls piece is handmade in (Meanjin) Brisbane, Australia by Finn O`Sullivan. Every piece is unlike the last. Small irregularities and wayward details adorn each piece. Bubbles or wobbly edges that cannot be commanded are part of what makes glass a magic material to work with.
