Canadian-American claire rousay crafts boundless music from a world of irregular, intimate beauty. Her music exists in its own universe. Her recordings chart a personal terrain that’s communal in its appeal. In a genre-spanning fashion, her music simultaneously holds the textures of ambient, the reflections of folk, the melodics of hyper pop, and the energetic flurries of noise. Her sound offers observations of the quotidian world, refocused and reshaped to create deeply engaging sound fields where song form and acoustic zones meet.

From Melbourne/Naarm, Peter Knight is known for exploratory sonics with hovering textures and shimmering melodies. His work is a boundless auditory ocean, mapped by trumpet and electronics.

Mono is the IMA’s experimental sound program curated by Lawrence English/Room40. Since 2006, it has brought sonic experimentation and boundary-pushing performance to Brisbane/Meanjin. It turns twenty in 2026.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
