Brisbane-based artist, Chloe Gard, quit her monotonous administration job to pursue her fascination with clay, and we are so glad that she did!

Gard hand-throws clay and toys with alternative glazing techniques that result in bubbly and imperfect ceramic homewares that beg to be touched.

Meet the artist and shop her latest collection, POP, at the IMA Gallery Shop Thursday 29 June, 6–9pm. The gang at Restless Beat will be on the deck all evening!

  • Chloe Gard

Chloe Gard is a Swiss-born Australian artist living and working in Woolloongabba. Gard originally studied photography and printmaking at Queensland College of Art, Brisbane. She thrives on creating with her hands, which lead her to investigate her fascination with the craft revival movement. Gard now works full-time as a ceramicist out of her home studio.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
