Demo 3/4 → Round three descends.

The after-hours art experiments crawl back into the shadows at the Judith Wright Arts Centre, where Brisbane’s creative pulse throbs louder once the lights dim.

Demo 3/4 slinks through hidden corners and dim-lit rooms, unfolding performances, exhibitions, workshops and activations that defy expectation and etiquette. It’s art unchained. No rules, no ropes, just space to roam, linger, and sink into.

Featuring local bands Sacred Hearts, Lavender Threat, and Platonic Sex (solo); the Queensland premiere of the film Stelarc: Suspending Disbelief; and experimental performances by Naomi Blacklock, Yvette Ofa Agapow, and Ruby Donohoe.

Plus workshops spread across the building: assemble decorative skulls with Miguel Aquilizan, design temporary tattoos with You Took Your Time, screen print t-shirts with Scrap Hauss, carve spooky candles with Crazy Candles, and create ‘black out’ poetry with Jessie Jackson.

Schedule dropping soon. Stay close.

Demo is presented by Outer Space and the Institute of Modern Art, supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
