IMA Zine Fair

11 October 2025
10am–4pm

Old-school, cheap, individual, and easy to make, zines foster self expression, communication, and community. Visit the IMA’s annual Zine Fair to discover a massive selection of independent, experimental, alternative publications, and meet artists, designers, and makers. Participants include local and inter-state sellers.

Visual artist Sunday Jemmott will lead a drop in badge-making workshop where you can craft and customise your own DIY badges to take home.

IMA staff and friends will be spinning tunes during the day. Listen to an eccentric collection of vinyl records, ranging from arthouse experimental noise, to 80’s new wave hits.

As a special bonus, IMA will be finding new homes for rare art magazines from our archive—free to anyone interested. These rummage table gems are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The IMA Zine Fair will feature an array of local stall holders, including ARI Remix + EXTRA Zine; Catalogue Press; Daniel Sherrington; David Spooner; Devid Samol; Dysphoric Creative; Emily Lamburd; Forge Forward; Jess Holland; JKDimagery (John Pryke & Kay Watanabe); Minney Richani; Momoko Fukaya; Peter Kozak and Floating Disc; Phoebe Reinthal; PLATYPUS; Raphael Atkins; Ritual Press; Sirena Varma; Sunday Jemmott; Your Pals.
In addition, interstate zine and small press publishers Glom Press (@glompress), Helio Press (@heliopress) Stray Pages (@s_t_r_a_y_p_a_g_e_s), and Wolfbound Books will be available from the IMA Shop.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
