Sydney’s 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art is presenting Impossible Dialogue, the first retrospective of Chinese artist Xiao Lu. Join the artist and curators Claire Roberts and Xu Hong to discuss some of her recent performance works. The conversation will focus on her interest in deep emotion, extreme action, and chance, and will connect with broader themes, including art and gender, feminism, activism, and the writing of art histories. Presented with the School of Culture and Communication, University of Melbourne, and 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, Sydney.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
