For the final Mono event this year, we head to the Old Museum for an evening of effortless harmony, shimmering timbre, and hovering harmonics. Chris Abrahams, known for his work with The Necks, performs his first-ever organ solo in Meanjin/Brisbane. American artist Chuck Johnson transforms the wavering qualities of his pedal steel into an oceanic drift of sound. Home-towner Andrew Tuttle will launch his new edition, Fleeting Adventure.

Mono is the IMA’s longstanding program of experimental sound curated by Lawrence English of Room40. Experience the expansive world of sonic experimentation and boundary-pushing performance in Brisbane/Meanjin through an integration of diverse sound materials and practices.

Chris Abrahams.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
