Event Poochie Pets with Lawn Bowls

Poochie Pets with Lawn Bowls

Workshop

7 March 2026
9–11am, 12–2pm, 3–5pm

Small irregularities and wayward details, bubbles and wobbly edges, make glass a magic material to work with. We are teaming up with Lawn Bowls to deliver fun workshops that introduce the whimsical world of fused glass. These cosy workshops keep things small, so you’ll get plenty of one-on-one time with glassmaker Finn O’Sullivan.

Over a relaxed two-hour session, get hands on with the tools and techniques needed to create your very own adorable ‘Poochie Pet’ family. These little creatures—tiny companions to carry in your pocket—began as an idea in Finn’s childhood. Back then, they were made of paper. Now, she brings them to life in vibrant glass and shares them with new friends.

Your finished Poochie Pets will be whisked away to the Lawn Bowls studio for firing. Once they’ve fused and cooled, your glass companions will be delivered back to you.

No experience needed. Registration is essential. Workshops are limited to twelve participants.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
