Professional Development for Educators

the churchie emerging art prize

10 October 2021
10am

You’re invited to join the IMA Education team for an in-depth look at the churchie emerging art prize 2021 finalists’ exhibition. Explore the work of fourteen emerging artists from across Australia working in a range of mediums spanning video, sculpture, painting, and more.

In this free session educators will be guided through ‘the churchie’ education resources, designed to support secondary learning and create dynamic connections with contemporary art for your students.

‘the churchie’ is an annual prize in its 34th year that provides a platform for up-and-coming Australian artists of all ages and visual artforms to have their work profiled on a national stage. Join a guided tour of ‘the churchie’ and take the opportunity to also explore our other exhibitions; See/Through by Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan and Becoming Alluvium by Thao Nguyen Phan.

IMA staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the IMA’s exhibition and events program and education opportunities.

Free event, bookings essential (capacity limited). To find out more about this event, education offerings at the IMA, or to make a group booking please contact IMA Education Manager Nadine Schmoll at education@ima.org.au.

Art Teacher Day

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
