MONO x Liquid Architecture: Áine O’Dwyer + Kusum Normoyle is an off-site event, and will be held at The Old Museum, Brisbane. Doors open at 7:45pm, with performances beginning at 8pm. RSVP via Eventbrite here.

Áine O’Dwyer’s performances draw on both traditional and avant-garde music. Her specialisation is improvised compositions for church organs, which she uses to create multi-layered, exploratory, and experiential sound works. O’Dwyer will perform a work for the organ (dated to ca. 1890) at the heritage-listed Old Museum, (built a year later in 1891). This concert marks O’Dwyer’s first visit to Australia, following the 2014 release of her acclaimed album Music for Church Cleaners vol. I & II (recorded in St. Mark’s Church in Islington, London).

Also performing on the night is Sydney-based artist and musician, Kusum Normoyle. Normoyle’s works explore the power of screaming, amplification, feedback and noise to disrupt and intervene in social space.

Presented by Institute of Modern Art, Liquid Architecture and Room40.

Áine O’Dwyer’s visit to Australia is supported by Culture Ireland.
