AI-COMMUNE

6pm–8pm

  • Event Cost:
    Free

As part of Imaginary Accord, artist Sean Dockray will present an interactive AI-COMMUNE workshop. The workshop will cover notions of digital intimacies, temporary communities and networked logic. The event will be spilt into two stages; in part one Dockray will give a lecture-tour of the AI-COMMUNE. He will narrate both a historical lineage of the apparatus, and consider its potential projection into the future.

In the second part, Dockray will initiate participants as new members into the digital commune. By engaging in the commune, participants will indirectly become part of a temporary community. Interested parties will be required to bring a USB containing their digital corpus. He describes a corpus as everything you have ever written: emails, text messages, Skype chats, confessions, comments, letters, books, and complaints. Partial corpuses will also be welcome.

Dockray was a founding Director of Telic Arts Exchange in Los Angeles, and initiated the autonomous, self-organized pedagogical projects The Public School and AAAARG.fail. Dockray was recently a fellow at Leuphana University’s Post-Media Lab and an artist in residence at the Free Radical Centre at the University of Melbourne. His writing has been published in Cabinet, Volume, and Bidoun; and he has essays included in Undoing Property? (Sternberg Press) and Contestations: Learning From Critical Experiments in Education (Bedford Press). Currently, Dockray is a PhD candidate at the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne.

This event is free and open to everyone. Capacity is limited so please register your interest.
