The IMA is pleased to present an exhibition of largely unseen works on paper by one of Australia’s most visionary and critical artists, Gordon Bennett (1955–2014), Be Polite. Though rarely seen in exhibition contexts, Bennett’s drawing and script form the foundation of his practice.

Alongside it sits a exhibition by acclaimed Eurasian art collective Slavs and Tatars. In this first solo presentation in Australia, the artists look to a medieval genre of advice literature known as ‘mirrors for princes’. The exhibition is accompanied by a book also titled Mirrors for Princes, which is available in the Motto IMA bookstore.

There is a preview for IMA Members and Supporters from 5pm, followed by a public opening reception from 6-8pm.
