Join artists Jemima Wyman and Zach Blas for their First Thursdays event Patterns-of-Life-Resistance, as they ask: How can we create and imagine patterns that engage resistance? Wyman and Blas invite us to collectivise and resist through pattern making and camouflage, and to use technology to explore visual patterns of resistance for today.

The evening begins with a lecture-performance that examines the landscape of resistance and surveillance patterns, and the relationship between patterns and protest movements. Wyman and Blas will use visual pattern making, generated by cutting-edge surveillance technologies and algorithms, through music, video, and performance. Their performance will end with a workshop where you can camouflage, resist, and evade surveillance with the artists.

This performance marks the beginning of Wyman and Blas’s IMA residency to develop new work for the exhibition Material Politics, 6 May–15 July 2017.
