To coincide with Tom Nicholson’s exhibition at the IMA, Drawings and correspondence, the IMA Gallery Shop invites you to discuss two chapters from the recently released publication Tom Nicholson: Lines towards Another.

The first edited anthology on the work of Australian contemporary artist Tom Nicholson, Lines towards Another, gives compelling insight into Nicholson’s diverse material approach, political practice, and historical context.

Come along to share your thoughts on the chapters The Artist As Unsettler by Anthony Gardener (pp. 17–28) and Blindness and Figuration: The Dialectics of Picture-Making in the Work of Tom Nicholson by Amelia Barikin (pp. 39–52) Tuesday 24 April, 6pm.

Tom Nicholson: Lines towards Another can be purchased at the IMA Gallery Shop or online here for $40, or $35 for IMA Members. For any enquiries, please contact Ashleigh Ralph at ashleigh@ima.org.au.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
