Spencer Harvie is hosting an experimental ‘exquisite corpse’ drawing workshop at the IMA that reconsiders our online, image-saturated experience through analogue processes. Starting with surrealist parlour games to provide prompts, participants will use methods including tracing, collaging, erasure, and remixing to explore the role of drawn images in the era of information overload.

Spencer Harvie is a painter featured in Platform 2026, the Institute of Modern Art’s annual emerging artist exhibition. He explores dark, surreal, nonsensical aspects of online and fan subcultures. Processing the slop of found, AI-generated, and imagined imagery within an elaborate cartoon logic, Harvie unleashes the psychosexual horrors bubbling beneath.
