Event Sapodia Lindley

Sapodia Lindley

Gallery Shop After Hours

20 September 2019
6–8pm

Join poet, writer, and filmmaker Sapodia Lindley in the Gallery Shop after hours for the launch of Notes to Jala, a collection of poetry.

Inspired by mythology, symbolism, and surrealism, Lindley’s poems explore the physical form, and conversely, its loss. To celebrate the launch of Notes to Jala you’re invited to hear readings from the publication and see a short film shot on Super 8mm, created as a visual accompaniment and extension of Lindley’s poetry.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
