Join us in the IMA Gallery Shop from 6pm Friday 20 October to celebrate the launch of ceramicist Nicolette Johnson‘s new series of vessels, Benevolent Universe.

Benevolent Universe is a collection of small stoneware vases thrown on the wheel and altered with decorative handles. The small ceramics act as little sculptures of their own, but they can also be filled with water to hold small flowers and stems. Each one is made entirely by hand by Nicolette in her home studio in Brisbane.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the maker, have a glass of bubbles and take home one of Nicolette’s stunning handmade pieces.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
