Since 2009, the IMA has had the honour of presenting the Jeremy Hynes Award to an experimental Queensland artist in the earlier stages of their career, made possible by a bequest made by the family of Jeremy Hynes in his name. The 2017 shortlist artists Lucy Forsberg, Michael Candy, Elizabeth Willing, and Naomi Blacklock are presenting projects and events throughout October. The recipient of this year’s award is to be announced at IMA’s Annual Party on Saturday 28 October, 6pm. Read more about the Jeremy Hynes Award here.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
