Devotion
By: Nicolette Johnson
2025
Devotion is an intimate portrait of an artist chronicling the first ten years of her career in ceramics. Beginning with a first encounter with clay, Nicolette Johnson offers honest and unguarded vignettes as the book navigates significant moments in her life. With 144 pages, Devotion is a limited edition print generously filled with photographs taken by Nicolette of her work, studio, and self portraits.
A beautiful object in itself, the book acts as a survey of a decade spent making ceramics, highlighting the breadth of pottery as a form of expression and devotion.
Devotion includes an introduction by Dr. Sarah Engledow and a foreword by Kylie Johnson. It is published by paper boat press EDITIONS.
Nicolette Johnson is a ceramic artist interested in the vessel. Her work explores our connection to the natural world and the way we assign powerful meaning to objects. Johnson began working in ceramics in 2015 and continues her practice-led exploration into functional and sculptural ceramic vessels, hand-making and firing each of her works in her Brisbane home studio.
