Curatorial Masterclass

15 April 2010

Minneapolis-based curators Sara Cluggish (Director of FD13 residency for the arts)and Pavel Pyś (Curator of Visual Arts, the Walker Art Center) presented a curatorial masterclass informed by experience working with performance and interdisciplinary contemporary artistic practices.

Drawing on the breadth of their professional experiences—from the context of the small-scale public institution and independent residency program; to scholarly research institute and large-scale interdisciplinary art centres—Cluggish and Pyś discussed projects that have informed their respective approaches to curating.

The Institute of Modern Art acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land upon which the IMA now stands, the Jagera, Yuggera, Yugarapul, and Turrbal people. We offer our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first artists of this country. In the spirit of allyship, the IMA will continue to work with First Nations people to celebrate, support, and present their immense past, present, and future contribution to artistic practice and cultural expression.
