Raqs Media Collective and Tess Maunder

In Conversation

25 June 2019
6.30–8.30pm

Join one of the founding members of Raqs Media Collective, Shuddhabrata Sengupta, in conversation with independent curator and writer Tess Maunder. Sengupta and Maunder will discuss how the collective operates as artist-curators, the group’s approach to managing biennales and artist-run spaces, and their role as critical voices in the global south.

Founded in New Delhi in 1992 by Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula, and Shuddhabrata Sengupta, the collective has since become a leading critical voice in the art world. They operate as theorists, curators, artists, film-makers, educators, and everything in between. The group has exhibited at extensively at biennales and have presented a number of large-scale curatorial projects including Why Not Ask Again?, the 11th Shanghai Biennale (2016-17).
