Join us at the IMA Gallery Shop for the launch of a new limited-edition bag by local designer Yani Bags, produced in collaboration with artist Visaya Hoffie.
Named Cendol (pronouned chen-doll), this new design is inspired by an Indonesian iced sweet dessert that contains uniquely shaped, bright green jellies made from rice. The texture and mixture of different ingredients in this dessert is echoed in the tactility and unique combination of materials used to form the bag.
Celebrate the launch with the designer after hours at the gallery and enjoy local DJs, food, and drinks. Browse a collection of the Vissy bags, a classic Yani Bags design, alongside the new collection in various colours and patterns.

Yani Bags are designed and handmade in Meanjin, Brisbane by Yani Preston. She is a designer and artist of Australian, Indonesian and Dutch ethnicity since birth. Her latex bag designs started as a material exploration project in New York while studying at the Parsons School of Design in 2019 and have continued to evolve into a small collection of playful, unique and contemporary bags. The bags are inspired by her curiosity with the tactility and uniqueness of Asian foods and the possibilities of liquid latex replicating these foods into satisfying fashion textile textures.
